Carried

“[Angels] will carry you in their arms, and you won’t hurt your feet on the stones.” – Psalm 91:12

The period covering 2020-2023 was the hardest part of my life, ever.  Frankly, how I managed to emerge from it unscathed is nothing but a miracle.

It was during that period that I landed on American gospel artiste Jekalyn Carr’s song, You Carried Me.’

One of the verses says;

“And You did not drop me, ha

You did not drop me

But You walked me through the valley, hey

Carried me over the mountain

Brought me through my circumstance.”

Today’ that is my testimony as well; Christ carried me through the horrifying circumstances!

It reminded me of a story that was told of a man who was shown the journey of his life in a vision.

In some parts of the journey, he saw two pairs of footsteps in the sand.

However, in some places, he saw only one pair of footsteps.

“So, does it mean that You would leave me to walk alone when the going became tough and You would walk with me when the road was smooth”? He asked the Lord.

“No, my son,” the Lord replied. “Whenever the going became tough, I would carry you and that’s why you see only one pair of footsteps.”

In our meditation today, the Lord promises to give His angels charge over you to carry you in their arms so you won’t hurt your feet on the stones!

If He does care about mere ‘feet,’ what about your heart, you know?

Another version says; “they will bear you up in their hands;” and another says; “they will lift you up in their hands.”

This is a powerful promise of God’s protection and care for those who trust in Him.

The image of angels bearing someone up in their hands suggests a divine intervention to prevent harm or danger.

It’s a metaphor for God’s providence and care, indicating that the saints will be supported and protected through life’s challenges.

Just imagine for instance, the image of a parent carrying an infant across a busy road.

In Exodus 19:4, God told the children of Israel: “I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself” – a powerful imagery of God’s powerful and protective care for His people.

Again, in Isaiah 46:4, God promises; “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

In this verse, God is assuring His people that His care and providence are for a lifetime, going on well into old age when hair turns white.

It is not limited to any particular stage of life; rather, it continues unabated as His people grow up to face the inevitable challenges of old age.

The imagery of being carried by God conveys His provision, support, and sustaining power, even in times of weakness or vulnerability.

It’s a comforting assurance of God’s faithfulness and steadfast love throughout the entirety of our lives.

So, it really doesn’t matter what stage you’re at in your life’s journey or the mountains or circumstances that you’re facing right now.

Whatever it is, take heart for you are being carried! Say a firm Amen!
