Salvation

With long life will I satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” – Psalm 91:16

I always get amazed when I hear some Christians say that they are “not saved.”

From a theological perspective, it would be an oxymoron for a believer in Jesus Christ to say that he is not saved.

Soteria, the Greek word for ‘salvation,’ means the spiritual and eternal redemption granted immediately by God to those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Hebrew word for ‘save’ is yesha, which simply means ‘absence of oppression and need.’

In our meditation today, God promises to satisfy those who love Him with a long life and to show him His salvation.

It is His salvation, not yours! Salvation is of the Lord (Psalm 62:1).

Salvation goes hand in hand with eternal life, which only comes by believing in Jesus Christ (John 3:16).

“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness…“ (Isaiah 61:10).

Salvation is the work of God, not man’s.

In reference to Christ, the Bible says “He became the Author of eternal salvation to all them that obey Him,” signifying that Christ, exalted and glorified as our High Priest, on the ground of His finished work on earth, has become the source of eternal salvation (see Hebrews 5:9).

Christ is the concrete and active cause of your salvation.

As a matter of fact, He has not merely caused or effected it; He is, as His name, “Jesus,” implies, our salvation itself., Luke 2:30

‘Jesus’ means ‘Jehovah is salvation,’ which is why salvation is personified in Him (Luke 2:31).

Contrary to what many people think, salvation is not due to our own human effort; rather, it is God’s free gift, resulting from Hi sovereign right to exercise mercy upon the individual.

And as our meditation verse indicates, salvation is personal – it says; “I will show him my salvation” – indicating that salvation is both a personal and individual experience.

Keeping the commandments was never a means of salvation, but merely a guide for living a life that pleases God.

Salvation is only by grace through faith.

If you have faith that Christ has washed you in His Blood, then you have His salvation – you’re free from the oppression of Satan, sin and death.

Never be ashamed of it; rather, rejoice in it and show it forth from day to day.
