Declare

“To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” – Psalm 92:15

This verse is a continuation and conclusion of the previous discussion about the righteous being like a tree that continues to bear fruit in its old age.

Indeed, this is how the Amplified version renders the above verse: “[They are living memorials] to declare that the LORD is upright and faithful [to His promises]; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

I love the notion of being “living memorials” to God’s faithfulness, loyalty and integrity to His people throughout their lives.

In the original language, the word ‘declare’ means to ‘to lift up,’ ‘show’ or ‘to show forth’ or ‘to prove.’

It connotes making known openly and clearly by demonstrating something for others to see or understand; basically, to demonstrate God’s saving work in their lives and making an invitation to others to experience His love and redemption too.

By showing forth or declaring that ours is the faithful God, we affirm our trust in God’s character and His unwavering consistency, reliability and dependability when it comes to His promises.

In another psalm, David said; “No one whose hope is in You will ever be put to shame.” (Psalm 25:3).

Then in Psalm 34:22, he sang; “The LORD redeems the soul of His servants: And none of them that trust in Him shall be desolate.”

Those who trust in the Lord God Almighty will never be disappointed or put to shame, never!

This should challenge you to have confidence in the reliability and faithfulness of our our Lord Jesus Christ.

David knew what he was talking about. “I have been young and now I am old but I have never seen the righteous forsaken,” he said in Psalm 37:25.

This was an observation from an entire lifetime of personal experience and observation of the lives of Godfearing people.

What he means is that throughout his life – from youth to old age – he had witnessed a consistent pattern: righteous individuals – those who are morally upright or devout – are never abandoned or left in a helpless state.

Despite life’s challenges and hardships, those who have lived righteously and faithfully would always remain under the Lord’s benevolent care and providence for the rest of their lives.

Till old age, they will be “living memorials” of Christ’s faithfulness, fidelity and loyalty to what He promised in His word.

This should serve as a powerful encouragement and reassurance for those striving to live morally and uprightly in this fallen world.

Dear sister; living right is not in vain; it will be rewarded with divine protection and Providence, and till old age!

It is an affirmation of the proven truth that the lives of those who strive to do what is pleasing to the Lord would become a lifelong memoir to God’s moral excellence and faithfulness to those who love Him, trust Him and serve Him.  Hallelujah!
