Care

Once, I heard someone say that ‘I don’t care’ is the worst comment that a person could say to his/her spouse.

When you think about it, you realize that he was spot on. Caring for one another is the bedrock of every relationship – even among animals.

Business thrives on caring for the customer or client.

Agriculture flourishes on the willingness of people to give care to animals and plants.

Indeed, human beings are the most successful species on earth because they have developed an intricate system of caring for their own – both young and old.

Caring is how we express love, whatever kind of love it is – agape, eros or phileo. When someone stops caring, it means he/she has stopped loving or rather, living.

In our meditation today, the apostle Peter admonishes the believers to cast all their care upon Christ because He cares for us.

I like how the Amplified Version puts it: “Casting all your care

on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”

God’s benevolent care is absolutely mysterious.

He cares for creation and the universe. He cares for the birds and knows each of them by name.

He cares for the plants in the bush, so much that He gives them beautiful flowers.

As for His people, God compares His love to how a hen takes care of her little chicks literally in everything.

That was what Job had in mind when confessed in Job 10:12; “You have granted me life and favor, and Your care has preserved my spirit.”

That was what David had in mind when he sang; “When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me” (Psalm 27:10).

When the disciples asked Jesus; “Do You not care that we are perishing?” He arose immediately and calmed the sea. (Mark 4:38-39).

The word ‘cast’ in our meditation verse is an active verb.

It is something you must do intentionally and categorically.

You must present all your worries, anxieties, and problems to God in order to let Him handle them.

No matter how big or serious they are, no one does it better than Jehovah El Shaddai, the Almighty God.

Today, choose to cast your cares upon God.

He shows His care to those who cast their cares upon Him. And when you have a testimony of God’s care, you will never say ‘I don’t care.’
