Able

“[God] is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.” – Ephesians 3:20

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be the President’s son, and more so when he has been the President since I was a child.

When the President’s son was an infant, he definitely knew that his father could afford to give him any toy or gift.

But when he grew older, he got to appreciate how his dad could take him to any military academy and offer him any military rank.

Today, as a full General like his father, he knows that his dad could actually do much more than give him the token gifts that he always asked for when he was a child.

Our meditation verse today says our God is able to do exceeding abundantly more than we ask or think (at our current level of maturity).

Anyway, I tried to check out a few other Bible versions to see how they translate ‘exceeding abundantly’:

  • immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine
  • infinitely more than we might ask or think
  • more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think
  • do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams],
  • above and beyond all that we ask or think.
  • do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine
  • do far beyond all that we ask or think

The idea in that all is that what God is able to do is limitless; and yet the power to accomplish it all is already resident and active within us!

.

As the popular worship song says, ‘God is able, more than able, He can handle anything that comes your way.’

Let me show you eight more things that the Bible says Christ is able to do:

1. He is able to make you stand (Romans 14:4)
2. He’s able to establish you (Romans 16:25)

3. He’s able to keep you from falling and present you faultless before His glory (Jude 24)

4. He’s able to make all grace abound toward you (2 Corinthians 9:8)

5. He’s able to keep that which you’ve committed unto Him against that day (2 Timothy 1:12)

6. He’s able to build you up (Acts 20:32)

7. He’s able to subdue all things (Philippians 3:21)

8. He is able to save you to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25).

Today, God is challenging us to raise our level of faith in His ability. Whatever you can think it and pray for, God is able to execute and accomplish a lot more than what your mind can conceive! Glory to His Name!

As the popular worship song says, ‘God is able, more than able, He can handle anything that comes your way.’

Prayer:
Almighty God, I believe that you’re Able, more than able to do more than I could ever dream. Help me to know You more and more as the Able God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
