Revelation

“You will show me the path of life…” (Ps 16:11)

“Behold I will bring it health and cure and I will cure them, and will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth” (Jeremiah 33:6).

I remember a time when I really needed some cash. I tried to borrow from some colleagues at work but all in vain.

Then the company accountant called and asked when I was going to collect my cheque.  What?

Apparently, there was a payment that had been made three weeks earlier but I was not aware.  Here I was broke yet there was money waiting for me to collect.

It happens to us all.  You spend hours turning everything upside down as you look for something yet it was always right there under your nose waiting to be seen.

In our Scripture today, King David affirms that God would be the one to “show him the path of life.” That speaks of revelation; it means that the ‘path of life’ is a mystery that must be divinely revealed!

That’s what God told Jeremiah; “I will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.” Mark that; health, peace and truth are neither automatic nor explored; they’re received by divine revelation; not studied!

Worldly wisdom and understanding cannot fathom the realms of the Spirit because they must be revealed, not investigated or studied.

In this context, the Hebrew word for ‘peace’ means well-being, welfare or success.

For many of us, peace has always remained a mystery; totally hidden and beyond reach.

Well, it’s God who reveals the mysteries of everything we need in life.

For us the children of God, the revealing of the mysteries of the kingdom of God is our right and privilege (Mark 4:11; Luke 10:21).

Worldly wisdom and understanding cannot fathom the realms of the Spirit because they must be revealed, not investigated or studied.

Also, everything we need – healing, provision, salvation, prosperity, etc – must first be revealed in the spiritual realm before it manifests in the physical or tangible form.

In these perilous times when human wisdom is struggling to unravel the economic, social, political, climatic and spiritual conundrums in our troubled and confused world, God is inviting us and reminding us that He only can reveal to us the ‘paths of life’!

Prayer:

Almighty God, be the One to open my eyes so I can see the paths of a life that honours You and experience true peace and wellness in this present world, regardless of what is going on around me. For the glory of your name I pray, Amen
