Glad
Glad
“Because You have made me glad with Your awesome deeds…” – Psalm 92:4
When I made the decision to set up this website just over a year ago, I prayed for partners to help with the costs.
Then I made a random post on WhatsApp about it.
Shortly afterwards, I received a message from a strange number asking how much it would cost to set up the website.
Receiving all the cash I needed from that awesome sister in just one mobile money transaction was my happiest moment of the year.
Now, when was the last time someone did something that really cheered you up and made you glad?
What did someone do that made the happiest day of your life?
More often than not, the deeds that really lift our spirits are those that are unmerited, which we don’t actually deserve.
In our meditation today, David testifies about God’s awesome deeds that he says have made him glad.
To ‘make glad’ means to cheer, exhilarate, thrill or elate someone.
The Greek term for ‘make glad’ is euphraino; it is from this term that we get our English word ‘euphoria,’whichmeans a state of intense happiness, excitement or elation.
‘Euphoria’ may involve a heightened sense of well-being, accompanied by a sense of heightened energy or enthusiasm.
Finally achieving an elusive goal, receiving ‘glad tidings’ (good news), or realizing a major achievement can send someone into a state of euphoria.
“There is a river, the streams thereof shall make glad the city of God.”
PSALM 46:4
That’s what God does by His miracles, interventions and providence in the lives of His children; He continually puts us in a state of euphoria.
In reference to Jesus Christ, the Bible says God filled Him with “the oil of gladness” – the divine anointing that resulted in inside-out joy – and which indeed is also part of our inheritance as Christians.
I don’t know how long it has been since you were really glad.
However, I’m sure that your situation is certainly not worse than that of the people of Israel who had been captured and taken into captivity in Babylon, hundreds of miles away from home.
Through His prophet, God sent a message to these captives saying; “Say to those who are fearful-hearted, ‘Be strong, do not fear”!
He added; “And the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing to Zion with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (Isaiah 35:5, 10).
“Your time to obtain joy and gladness has come,” says your heavenly Father.
In Psalm 46:4, the Bible says; “There is a river, the streams thereof shall make glad the city of God.”
So, regardless of what’s going on in your life, I have a message for you: Get ready to receive a miracle because the ‘river’ of God’s deeds is flowing in your direction, ready to fill your heart with divine gladness. Say a big Amen!
