“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!” -Psalm 139:16-17

 I once worked for an organization that sponsors vulnerable children.

The organization supports the kids through sponsors in various developed countries with each sponsor attached to a specific child.

I was one of the people working as a link between the sponsors and the kids. So I would read dozens of letters from sponsors every day, then pass them on to the children.

But one thing that struck me was how the sponsors would always sign off by saying; “I’m thinking of you.”

These were people thousands of miles away most of whom would probably never even get to meet the kids face to face but they would tell them how they are thinking of them.

We all love to know that someone out there is thinking about us. It feels special, doesn’t it?

In the Bible, God is portrayed as the God who thinks about each one of His people.

Someone who thinks about you is one who cares about you. You’re always in his/her thoughts.  It’s so comforting and reassuring to know that.

In our meditation today, David expresses wonder at God’s “precious thoughts” towards him.  It’s personal and intimate.

God’s thoughtfulness speaks of His care, concern and providence for His people.

To the Jewish captives in Babylon who were hundreds of miles away from their ruined cities, God said; “For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Someone once wondered how God could be thinking of her when there are seven billion people on earth.

Well, Jesus actually said that the Father cares about every sparrow and every flower in the bush!

“For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope”

JEREMIAH 29:11

:Also, there are a lot more stars than people – thousands of billions of them – and yet the Bible says He calls them all by name!

Psalm 40:5 says; “Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You.”

Dying on the cross for you and the great things He has done for you over the years, explain how thoughtful He has always been toward you.

“The LORD has been mindful of us; He will bless us” (Psalm 115:12).

You’re always on His mind as a recipient of His blessings!

Whatever you’re going through right now, God says He thinks about you. His thoughts of you and plans for you are both many and precious!

In these days of anxiety, confusion and uncertainty, God is reminding us and reassuring us that we’re always on His mind; He’s always thinking about us all the time.

We can afford to remain calm in the midst of whatever storms we are going through with the assurance that Christ is seated on the right hand of the Father interceding for us.

He knows and understands what it means to be human. His thoughtfulness towards us is unlimited.

Prayer:

Almighty God, your thoughts about me are precious and numerous. Help me never to forget that I am always being thought of by the creator of the universe. Glory to Your Name, Amen!
