Hidden

“You are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall surround me with songs of deliverance.” (Psalm 32:7)

I spent my early Primary School years with my grandmother deep in Luweero.

One day, she got information that we would be attacked at night so we spent the night hiding in a coffee garden behind the house.

It was a terrifying and unforgettable experience.

Many us have our favorite hiding places. Indeed, we are prudent enough to prepare our hiding place ahead of time, before the danger strikes.

Also, we all have a safe place where we hide our valuable and documents from those who might desire them more than us.

In our meditation today, David describes the Lord as “my hiding place.”

David spent many of his adult years in hiding. Shortly after being anointed king to replace King Saul, he became a fugitive, a wanted man who spent days, months and years hiding in caves, forests and deserts.

Without those safe hiding places, he would have been captured by Saul’s powerful army. But should such a brave fighter and a man of God have been going into hiding, someone might ask?

Well, David testifies that it was God who hid him and thus preserved him from trouble.

He saw it as a means God used to deliver His servant from trouble.

“For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

COLOSSIANS 3:3

Proverbs 27:12 says a prudent man sees trouble ahead and hides himself but a fool keeps going and gets in trouble.

David, the giant killer, sometimes found it more prudent to hide than to engage in a fight. Jesus’ parents took him into hiding in Egypt when they were warned by an angel.

Paul, the great apostle, often went into hiding including in a basket.

They were preserved, so you don’t have to be afraid because you have a safe hiding place – God!

In Colossians 3:3, the Bible says; “For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

In other words, when the devil comes looking for the Christian to accuse him/her, all he finds is Christ in whom the Christian is hidden. Hallelujah!

We don’t have to be afraid of anything because the Lord our God is our hiding place. Sometimes God won’t prevent the trouble from coming near us but He promises to keep on preserving us and delivering us.

You’re hidden in Christ in God.

Prayer:

Lord, I thank you because You’ve proved to be my hiding place over the decades. I won’t be afraid because I have that testimony.  With you I have been and I will always be safe, preserved and hidden in the Name of Jesus, Amen!
