Fortified
“Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land – against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land. They will fight against you but will never overcome you, since I am with you to deliver you, but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you, says the LORD, to deliver you.” – Jeremiah1:18-19
Air Force 1, the official aircraft of the President of the United States of America, currently holds the record for the most fortified facility on the planet.
The aircraft is equipped with the most modern counter measure technologies in and out, which make it almost impossible to harm the President while he is on board.
It is claimed that the President is safer on Air Force 1 than he would be inside the White House – his official residence.
The aircraft is escorted by the most lethal and technologically advanced fighter planes and can be used as the President’s office and command centre anywhere on the planet.
In our meditation today, God is preparing prophet Jeremiah for a danger-prone existence. “I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall,” He assures him.
“They will fight against you but they will never overcome you since I am with you to deliver you.”
Prophet Jeremiah has been rightly called the ‘weeping prophet.’ From that narrative in the Scriptures, this man of God probably suffered more hardships than any other prophet.
For example, he was once dumped into a dungeon and forgotten. He came out alive several months later.
Historians say that Jeremiah was carried away into exile in Egypt where he died. However, every one of his prophecies came to pass, some hundreds of years later.
When you’re hidden in Christ Jesus, you’re in a heavily fortified ‘city’ where the devil can do you no harm.
While he was battered and buffeted by all sorts of hardships and ordeals at the hands of kings, religious leaders and rulers, Jeremiah’s spirit and commitment to his ministry remained intact.
But why didn’t God prevent the ‘fights’ against His servant instead?
Well, I don’t know. But what I know is that God forewarned him and then gave him the fortification he needed to remain unmoved.
Maybe things have been pretty tough in your life; it’s like all the forces of hell have been arrayed against you. You’re buffeted from all sides by storms, winds and ordeals.
I can assure you that you will go through it all unscathed because you are a “fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall” in the face of all your adversaries.
When you’re hidden in Christ Jesus, you’re in a heavily fortified ‘city’ where the devil can do you no harm.
The Bible says; “No! In all these things we are more than conquerors.” (Romans 8:37)
Prayer:
Almighty God, thank you for all the wars that you’ve enabled me to win. I declare that whatever else comes my way, I will never be defeated because my spirit is an iron pillar, which can never be broken by whatever comes my way. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!
